buddy and i are going to shoot a couple hogs. Its a freebee hunt as he owes us both a favor. Im taking my 444 outfitter and my 44 4 5/8s super both loaded with lyman devestators. I shot a doe once with one out of an inline and this is a good chance to see how they really do on something a little tougher. There cast out of a mix of 5050 pure/#2 and weight 270 grain. There running about 1200 out of the super and 1600 out of the outfitter.

Well, I'm going to throw a garlic laced pork butt shoulder on the charcol grill today after it's been soaking in salt brine a few hours. ******I'm going to pretend i shot it********. While its on the grill i'll cast a few and drink a couple ice tees. Geess i wish i could hunt hogs around here, we just don't have any wild ones yet. I guess it's a good thing.

hogs he had were so skiddish that we never got a shot at one. We did have a ball though as when we got there he asked us if we wanted to shoot two bufffalo for a safari club banquete. We were happy to oblige. I shot the first one with my new marlin 94 in 475 linebaugh with a head shot using a a 360 wfn at about 1650 it dropped at the shot. Then Al shot another with his 45/65 lever and again the head shot dropped it in its tracks. They i decided to shoot another for myself because i just had to test those bullets. I shot it with the 4 5/8s super at about 50 yards. Now dont let anyone tell you that devestators dont work. This animal went 700 lbs I took it right behind the shoulder and the bullet went in blew off the pipes at the top of the heart and went out the other side. Wound channel was not much bigger then youd expect with a good wfn or lfn. It did a little more internal damage. Im guessing it shed its nose inside but there was still enough bullet left for complete penetration. Now to me thats impressive. Much better performance then a guy would get out of any jacketed 44 bullet. To me thats a pretty good torchure test of that bullet. It shows me that the devestator in a 44 mag is completely capable of taking any thing up to a huge elk. Couldnt have been a better day i got to blood two new guns and had a ball with my best friend. The back is killiing me right now so im going to pill up and go to bed and dream of the tasty buffalo meat ill be eating for the next 6 months. Did i tell you i love 44 mags and love that little super with the elmer kieth grips on it!!!!

Thanks for the reply Lloyd. Regan Nonneman is building me a 50 AK right now off a Marlin 336. Sure would be cool to have that 475 though. Wonder if Regan would tackle one?
