My new Pedersoli Sharpes Competition 45/90 came without a tang sight. I am having great fun working up BP loads using the standard rear sight but I need to get one soon as the gun is starting to shoot better than I can see.

I had a Pedersoli rolling block with a standard Italian made tang sight and swore I would get something better next time. It is now time to bite the bullet. My club is basically a muzzle loader club and the long gong is money for jam with standard sights and the guys say to leave it as it is. But I want to go to serious long range work and will need an appropriate sight.

Any suggestions? What do you guys use?

Thanks

Depends on how mush money you want to spend. MVA, Shaver, Axtel, all make great sights. I personally have one of the Parts Unknown Soule sights and have been very happy with it. It's not quite as expensive but good quality for the money.

google Kermit tool
makes the Best tang sight available IMHO

works for both right or left hand, very easy to read, comes with a hadley eyecup, has an adjustable gib for wear. and he is an East coast BPCR shooter.

Baldwin Long Range Soule here-many good sights out there. Choosing one is like Ford & Chevy.

Pedersoli sells an excellent Soule-type sight in both long and mid range. It comes complete with a spirit level front sight, a card full of inserts and an excellent wooden storage box. Price for the set up is something like $400 from Cabela's.

I use this sight and am very happy with it. It seems the equal to Parts Unknown and MVA but Shaver and Axtels are a tad better of course, they cost more too.

I bought the MVA #107 rear and # 113 front for the same rifle and added the Handly eye cup. This combo instantly brought me from 6-8 in. groups at 100 yd. to 3. and 3. to 4. I have no experience with other sights, but can't imagine one being made and working better. IMHO:coffee:

I would like to correct your wording a bit.
You had a standard (Italian made) 'giveaway' sight. The line of sights made by Pedersoli which includes their USA 406 and USA 431 (to name two) are much more serviceable than the 'giveaway' units.
All of the sights in that 'better quality' line will also take their Hadley-style eyecup.

Hi Arnie,

I am interested in your sight. But I see the new price is around the same as you are asking. Am I missing something?

Cheers

Another source for a high quality Soule sight is Ron Heilman; his sights rank right up with the best and cost considerably less. I paid $265 3 years ago so can't vouch for prices now. Contact him at 258-840-2623. He also marked my Soule for left hand use and will thread the aperture hole for Hadley apertures in thread of your choice. Emery
