So with the shortage as ugly as it is, I went on the hunt for available powders for plinker loads in 9mm and 38. I'm sure I already have enough titegroup and unique to make it through, but paranoia is good business sense. Grafs had some 4 pounders of e3 for sale. Some quick google mining gave me some pages on Brian Enos' forums, but I was wondering if anyone here had experience using e3 in 9mm? I know it's an off-label use, but some of the competition guys there were having good luck with it before they had to adapt to any shortages.

That is a very fast powder, on the nature of Titewad or Clays. I would look at Clays data and work up from the start load. They list 2.9 grains as a start load with a Lead 125 grain boolit, and 3.3 grains top end. Normally, I'm not in favor of this sort of thing, but times being what they are, you can't always get what they want.
