how do you guys handle say range scrape. i mean when you get something that your not sure is in it. do you alloy it a shoot it . would you just run a hardnest test on it firs thinks for the help

First i would do a zinc test with the WORKS tolit bowel cleaner if theres no foaming it not zinc.
Second i would melt it down in a batch and make a few bullets and ck the hardness, then adjust the alloy up or down in hardness to meet my needs.

Depends on how much I have. Couple pounds of unknown lead alloy, it just goes in the refining pot. When mixing it with 120 lbs, it won't make much difference.

If I have 20-30 lbs of something new, then I cast it into it's own ingots and run some tests on it. Hardness, specific gravity, quench harden, etc.
