I've been looking for one of these in 45 Colt for sometime now! It has a 7.5" barrel and all the trimmings including :

Luepold scope, no mounts
custom grip
About 450 boolits and j-words
300 once fired brass
600 primers
die set plus crimp die
some ammo
And a Ruger case

I don't really need the whole package but he wants $900 all. Is this very far out of line?

Last year, I'd a said too high, but right now, I'd say it is fair. The list on the Redhawk new is over 900 by itself, and they don't offer the 7 1/2 inch version anymore. So, if you want it, I'd buy it while the getting is good. A die set is 30-50 bucks, brass is 34 bucks a hundred, primers are 6.00 a hundred. Buy it and sell what you don't need.

Well, there's my vote.

It is a decent deal in todays market. plus you can not beat a leupold scope.

The only .45 Colt Redhawk I've seen in my area in the last few months was listed at $750 for a NIB 4.2" model, I don't see any brass available at local stores.

$900.00 including the scope, dies, brass . . .

Are you trying to say it's not at your house already? :veryconfu

No it's not home but I think it will work in my favor.

I talked to him last night and am going to look at it Sunday afternoon. He never shot it and bought it from his friend that needed money. And that guy shot mostly cast. The swmbo is watching me like a hawk on this but seems okay. She understands that these 7.5 inchers don't come around too often. I'll have to post pictures if I get it.

If it is in good shape with the extra's and I was looking for one I would take it. I don't think the price is out of line. A friend of mine has a 44Mag Redhawk with the long barrel and it is accurate but it is a heavy gun.

Would not bat an eyelash if it is the "R" or "Hunter model".
Especially since the Leupold comes with it.
If the scope is not needed/wanted sell it and get some money back.

The Redhawk sneers at the "Ruger Only" 45 Colt loads.
Well written article by Brian Pierce in Handloader/Rifle magazine about reloading for a Redhawk 45 Colt.
This old man runs the 32k through his but them 40k loads scare me. Got hand problems as it is. Don't need more aggravation.

Well here it is! It was a long weekend waiting till Sunday afternoon to take a look at it. The stocks are very big for my hands but single action shooting isn't bad. The scope is a M8 2 power Luepold, RCBS 454 Casull dies along with a Lee crimp die, 4 boxes of Cast Performance boolits 265 300 and 335 FNGCs, and a full box of 300 grain LFNGC Grizzly Premium Hunting Cartridges. 20 each at 1250 fps.

I tried some handloads. Brass almost fell out of the chambers for each load. But it was getting kinda dark, especially for load 3. I could still tell it shoots load 3 better than my NMBH. No leading with a nice lube star at the muzzle.
