does any one on forum bore barrels ? I am wondering if I could have a 50cal (1 inch) renegade barrel bored out smooth bore to .615 (20 gage) would be cutting out around .105 ? Has any one had this done and can it be cut straight and make good shot barrel that would take 20 GA wads? and bout what would the cost be to do ?
thanks in advance

there's a guy in Pennsylvania named bob hoyt who does this type work. if you sign up at www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb and look around you can find his contact info. ya hafta call as he doesn't have a website. he's very highly thought of on the forum.

Keep in mind you will need a new breech plug. The factory biggest one is 11/16" and you'll need 3/4 inch. You also want to check the depth of the rear sight base screw holes as well as the ones holding the under rib on. Don't want to end up making a ported barrel!

I have done a few to .54 and .58. Like others have said, need to check on the depth of the screw holes. Sight dovetails are about .090" deep.

after he gets your barrel he can tell you how far he can far he can take it out based on the depth of the sight & underrib screwholes.

Agree, check with Bob. He has done a couple for me, but it was a long time ago. Good work, and very reasonable, as I recall.
