This started out as a 3lb ingot from the scrap yard. It was hard as nails & I had to keep the pots on High Temp in order for it to flow out the bottom pour. If I stirred up the melt, it was a normal "silver" then after stirring it would change colors. Im positive it wasnt pure lead as hard as it was. Any ideas?67709

No idea, but a guess, copper at high heat.

the green color is what was throwing me off.
but copper is a likely culprit.

We just ran into this where I work. We think its zinc. Had all tell tale signs. Oatmealy texture at lower heat. Had all kinds of rainbow colors as we drained out the pot.

Thanks for the input. Im not sure what it is. The ingot mold fills out very nicely once I got the ingot mold up to temp. I guess I'll just do some testing with it to determine what to do with it.
