It has the finger prints of mideast terrorists. First explosion draws in response people, second takes them.

Actually Ric,, it is the CIA that drone strikes and then does the followup strike.
The terrorist specialists are employed by the al-cia-da , the DHS will be the ones profiting by this act, it reeks of another false flag.

Looks like low order explosions, not high power and LOTS of smoke. Poorly contained
BP or one of these homebrew things that don't really work that
well (thank God!). Seems like way too much smoke for smokeless propellant powder,
altho never set off a bunch of it only in cartridges and a few tsps for jollies.

Seems like pretty minimal injuries compared to what could have happened. Little
consolation if you were one of the injured.

I'm sure that some mideast guy is trying to get some "unbelievers" killed. You can BET
that the left-stream media will NOT say this is a possibility.

Seems fortunate that this was not some really big, milspec kind of bang. Seems like
it could have been far, far worse. Again - not if you were one of those hurt.

This is clearly a hate crime since the blast occurred late in the race so only slow white people would be injured.

" The blasts occurred more than five hours after the start of the race, at a time when most top athletes were off the course but slower amateur marathoners were still running." http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-boston-marathon-explosion-20130415,0,641755.story

I worry anytime large groups of people gather. Prayers for quick recovery of the injured and capture of the bomber(s).

Any speculation of the type of explosive used which appears to be low level? Black powder, TATP? Which explosives smoke like that?

Explosions cause smoke. It can be cause by items in the vicinity catching on fire or dirt, debris, etc. So it may not be smoke from the explosive, but instead smoke, dirt, burning debris caused by the explosion.

ANFO. Depending on quality it can be a LOT of smoke and a low order explosion. All depends on raw materials.

And on a lighter note, the media, assuming that garbage cans were involved, has been repeatedly stressing that Great Britian has outlawed garbage cans!

"When they outlaw garbage cans, only the criminals will have garbage cans"

Unbelievable. And all I wanted to do was watch Judge Judy.

Saddened by the injuries/deaths. But I'll sleep safe tonight knowing that our goobermint will now act to outlaw bombs, as well as guns, maybe even marathons. Disarmed, led to the slaughter. And we are doing it to ourselves..............................

I just saw a news conference where one of thebpeople in charged was asked if it could be terrorists and the response was something close to , we won't confirm or deny but you see what is happening and whatbis being said make your own decisions. Then he got a smile and said but the president has been notified.

Trashcans...right after 9/11 I was working at Mpls/ SP airport and we got new garbage cans "installed" out on the roadway- part vehicle barricade (HEAVY!) and "blast proofed" (made to vent vertical instead of lateral). Anything with people gathered and television coverage is a target for this kind of attack

I've read a Saudi misguided youth has been arrested as a suspect. My TSA contacts were speculating that it would be either an old granny lady in a wheel chair, a 16 year girl with a killer bod, or a three year old child.

BO was informed and stated to do whatever is needed. Duhhh. He'll be on TV tonite with words of wisdom for sure, after all his other business is taken care of. Kudo's to the first responders. Of course they shut down the Mall, cell service in Boston, other major events - wise and proper move. Wonder what Janet will say, if anything. An interesting blast/smoke pattern. Prayers for the injured. Glad my son didn't go this year.

I second this, except the Iraq part. I am not an explosives engineer but i do see ANFO used in an industrial setting fairly regularly. And I am some what familiar with how it acts under a range of environmental conditions. I could be full of **** but these are my worthless thoughts.

The smoke color/ consistency is very similar to what we see here at the mine when we have wet holes in a pattern. AN is very hydroscopic and being exposed to the atmosphere would probably be enough to absorb water to cause that distinct smoke. The real indicator would be the smell, if is unmistakable.

bruce drake
04-15-2013, 11:01 PM
It was badly mixed ANFO. The smoke plume and the shockwave as shown on the video clips don't equate to what a full backpack of properly mixed ANFO could have developed. With the number of reported casualties, I do expect that the bags were probably packed with scrap metal or nuts and bolts as well.

Boerrancher and I have probably mixed our share of ANFO over the years as demonstration blows in training troops so the knowledge is readily available across the US if this turns into a Timothy McVeigh tragedy (An American "patriot" murdering fellow Americans in a misplaced sense of righteousness) The key to all this is to ensure the media does not loose track of the search for the murderers in their quest to force a Progressive Utopia on our country.

The media reports they detained a Saudi guy.

Add this in with the FBI sting on the Islamist who thought he was working with Al Qaeda awhile back and things get spooky. Hopefully it is just one extreme islamist who found a website and wanted to carry out his own attack. Hopefully ,if it is an American, it is a lone person with a personal agenda.

Pray Jihad has not hit mainland America.

Well, I am certainly sorry for those injured/killed and will pray for the families of those injured/killed. Next ban will be fertilizer so no farmer will be able to grow anything for fear of being used as a low explosive. From the looks of the explosion they were NOT high explosive. There would have been a lot more damage and black smoke emmited from a high explosive. I've seen claymore mines go off as well as hand grenades and the smoke is usu. black or black/grey. BC

While that's got some merit, their leadership and training programs have been hit pretty hard between the special forces operations and the drone strikes. There's a chance that they've slipped a bit.

If I recall correctly, the shoe bomber was initially thought not to have been the real deal, but later was found to have some ties to the major players.

Wait, she was sitting on a bomb while she watched the first one go across the street? Holy Smokes, man.

If anyone ever had any doubt you are one of God's chosen families, well that doubt is gone now, yes?

A closer call can not have existed in a place like Boston. God must be smiling on your family.

A Saudi male is taken into custody with serious burns. Bet this
is one of the guys.

I am VERY disappointed at those that say this could be domestic.

Shame on you for your thinking.

We are at war with a 7th century death cult and now our own people are
so brainwashed as to assume it was US, not these evil "religion of peace"
folks that have promised to do exactly this? I am nearly certain you will
find that some wonderful person from the middle east did this horrific
act. But of course, Americans will be suspected and blamed by the news
media, which is bad enough. But our "own guys" assuming it is domestic?
This blows my mind.

Very sorry for the deaths and injuries, I hope most of the injured will recover
fully.

My heart goes out to the people and their families who were affected by this attack. Local news (CBS & NBC) suggest BG created pipe bombs filled with the black powder and used batteries and steel wool for ignition. Pipe bombs threw lots of shrapnel so they may have been filled with BBs or similar. Of course early reports care often wrong.

Few days ago I seen a news report about a guy who set a car on fire with the driver still in the car. I haven't looked deeply into that case but after this I remembered that Al Q released a magazine in English called Inspired. In the ten edition, the most recent, they talk heavily about American Muslims and have suggestions on how to attack soft targets. Oddly they were taking more about setting things on fire and spilling oil on the highway at night to cause traffic accidents. No mention of bombs. I'm no expert by any means, I just read a lot, but I have doubts it was Al. A student acting alone maybe. But who knows. Time will tell.

I don't think we need to worry that some bitter clinger did this. From the outset, I was sure it was a Q-Tip.
"These types of pressure cooker explosives have been used in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, according to a July 2010 joint FBI and Homeland Security intelligence report. One of the three devices used in the May 2010 Times Square attempted bombing was a pressure cooker, the intelligence report said."
