I just picked up a pound of RL 10X which is a powder I have not seen before. I got it hoping to use it for 300 AAC Blackout. Does anyone have any supersonic load data for this with boolits between 150 and 200 grains? It is listed as being for .223 and similar cartridges so even if it won't work for .300 I could use it for .223 when I start loading that.

I was under the impression that RL10x was specifically designed for pushing a .204 bullet in excess of 4000 fps. I wouldnt have thought it would be the best powder for launching a cast 300 Blk boolit...

I doubt it is actually suitable for .300 at all but on the can it specifically mentions .223 and I have been wanting to work up a .243 load that would come as close as possible to the characteristics of .204 Ruger and start loading .223 so no matter that I will be able to use it. At the moment most of my rifle reloading is .300 AAC so I am intersted in finding powders that will work with that. The powder situation where I am is pretty thin.

If you find it, H110 is the main stuff.

Its nice in .223 for the ligher bullets. Not sure on Blackout, lots of people use rel7 for blackout.

H110 is my favorite but I am going to try Lil Gun which is supposed to be close.

I think R10 may work just fine in the BO. I have tried it in my Encore 6PPC with jacketed and found it too fast even with a 65gr bullet. I may try it in my Whisper. Probably use R7 data and work up.

Not really a good powder for the BLK, especially if your shooting it in an AR. I checked it in quickload with nosler 180 gr ballistic tips, and 220 SMK's Burns about 50-60% of the powder in a 16 inch barrel and fills the case to capacity before really getting any speed out of the loading. I also don't think you'll get enough pressure to cycle the action (but could be wrong on that one).

I don't like giving out load info as I don't want anyone to try it in case I'm wrong, but I will say this, ACCORDING TO QUICKLOAD, a 100% loading capacity of RL10X when loading a Nosler 180 gr ballistic tip to an OAL length of 2.11 when you start with a 300BLK case that is trimmed to 1.35" and only gives you +- 1283fps with 78% of the powder burned in the barrel and generates 22254 psi chamber pressure.

There are much better powders for the 300 BLK, A1680, 'Lil gun, RL7, W296/H110 etc these have proven to work well and cycle the action of an AR. There are others that are as good or better, but are for use in bolt guns or single shots such as the Handy rifle and Encore/Contender's as they won't generate the pressure needed to cycle the action of an AR.
