Haven't casted many bullets; my dad used to use 50/50 solder to add tin and I'm just now starting out on my own.

So I picked up some pewter today on Craigslist. 16lbs at $40. Do I flux this stuff? Sawdust, or what? I was going to pour thin wafers into my RCBS ingot thingy. It's mostly from one company. Should I just mix it all together?

It melts at lower temperature and is a lot cleaner than lead scrap. I keep the temperature down and flux with a paint stirrer stick. Sawdust would work well also. Nice find!

Yeah! Got it done (well, the small stuff). The 3lb bowl and the platter won't fit into the dog dish I'm using and I ran out of enthusiasm to tear it up. My dad's going to send up a 429215 mould and a 9mm mould and I should be off an running next week!

Need to get a thermometer now.

Run the bowl over with your car to flatten it and then fold it and the platter up and feed them into the pot. Much easier than trying to tear them up.
