I wish they would have shown all of the bullets. This is a good example in what they did show, though. With the cast boolits, I saw consistent excellent performance. With every jacketed bullet, consistent near to full failure, in my opinion on how I want a projectile to function. Yes, the animal was dead, but the jacketed bullets had not maintained the integrity of a cast boolit.

Nice piece of history. Too bad some low-life stole the collection. Yes it did appear that the jacketed bullets "failed" but still did the job. The cast bullets that were shown look real nice. Thanks for the link.

Very cool. And should teach others to lock up any valuables no matter what. They will show up at auction some day, I do hope the scumbags get caught though.

Waksupi, thanks so much, that was very interesting. By the way, I am not sure if I have my FIRST kill bullet, but I can tell ya that I got a bunch of them. I have kept all I found. They reside in an old cigar box with a bunch of elk ivories, bear claws, woodpecker eggs and other such trophies I have collected over the years. JW

Got me to thinking if any of those bullets shown in the video are some of the ones mentioned in his writing?

Very interesting! I remember some of the stories from his books, but never really knew he preserved every bullet he could like that.
I wonder what kind of lowlife would steal something like that of all things?
Thanks for sharing!

It mentioned some of the envelopes were still sealed and it looks like many still had bullets in them.
I hope so.

Nice thread, inspired me to cast & load a few tributes to Uncle Elmer over the last few weeks. OK, actually cast a few hundred. Truly an awesome man.
