I picked up these plumbers lead pieces today.
Top bar is unmarked and bendable soft
middle bar says 1/2 and 1/2....... Is it pure or half tin?
The bottom bar says "tinners solder" ..........?
The ingots say "caulking lead"........are those pure?

The bars are probably 50/50 solder, 50% tin. The ingots are close enough to pure to not worry about.

Thanks Alan. I'm using strictly WW now so these forms of lead are new to me.

So, am I correct in thinking that all 3 bars are 50% lead, 50% tin and are called solder?
I'm just trying to clear it up in my mind and figure out if I should grab more if the opportunity arises. I paid .60 a lb. for items in pic.

That is correct, all 3 bars are probably 50/50 solder and the round ingots nearly pure lead.

60 cents a pound is a screaming deal on the solder and not bad at all on the lead.

OK, thanks, that's exactly what I was trying to figure out. Especially with the solder.
I know it comes in the wire roles, done a fair amount of plumbing in my day but does the older bar solder come in other forms that I should look for? I' gonna keep an eye out for it now. I love being on the hunt..

You can get bar solder in every available solder composition from 30/70 body solders to 95/5 lead free.

Believe me that at .60 a lb. for unused plumbing lead ingots is a real deal steal! By all means grab as much of the solder strips as possible either for your own use or for trading or selling here on the site.Robert

OK, thanks guys.
I guess I will grab any more plumbers ingots I see and definitely will grab the solder bars.

Did pretty good this week.
Pail is #80 exactly. Paid $20 so .25 a lb. (garage)
Weights and solder bars were .50 a lb. I hand picked all big weights.
rolls of solder and caulking lead were .60 a pound. some 50/50 and 45/55 I think. All the rolls were full and the big one is a 5 lber
This place has all the clean roof flashing you want for .60 a lb. at least several hundred pounds.

I also have a garage that said to stop back this week, I think for some free.
