For those using a thrift shop or wally world hot plate to melt lead, what pot are you using?
I found a cheap aluminum pot along w the hot plate, but dont want to use the "wrong" pot.

No Al pots. At lead melting temps they get soft and wonky. They may ail at any time at those temps.
Think pots of lead suddenly all over. Yeah, not a good idea.
Go iron or steel. I like cast iron.

I bought a used SS pan at Goodwill. Used it with electric hotplate until I got my pot and now I use it to smelt!

I have been using a large coffee can an it works out pretty good. back home l have a 2 qt stainless steel saucepan that l "liberated" from the kitchen.
