I thought I'd post some pictures of my little White muzzleloader and ask a few questions.

Its an early(I think) G-Series Whitetail in .504. They are supposed to be used with lead bullets weighing between 400 and 600 grains and have a fast twist to stabilize them. I have only shot it with saboted bullets and some of my own cast in sabots. It shoots great even with them. Usually the shots are touching at 100. Sadly MS has done away with the muzzleloader requirement for the primitive weapon season, so it will have to sit in the back of the safe while the 358 Encore gets used.

I am curious if any here have any experience with them? I even considered selling it, but can't find a single one for sale on the net. Any idea of a value?

Thanks
Thomas

Have couple of White Rifles and they shoot good. I too use sabots. Generally they go for 2C to 4C $ depending. Is that some kind of aftermarket color? Not familiar with the green and looks like some small "chips/flakes" on the action. The "Myrtle" wood stocks are notoriously weak in the pistol grip area. If you are interested in selling I may be interested, PM here if interested, or can point you towards couple of other guys who are interested in White Rifles. Drawbacks for White Rifles are: weak "Myrtle wood" stock, open bolt, slamfire ignition with attendant need to protect scopes from blowback. Pluses for Whites are they are known to be very accurate and can shoot BIG bullets for big game.

What is going on with your "primitive weapons" season?

That coating is some sort of "moly teflon" type stuff I guess. It isn't chipping off, but it does have some spots where it has worn through. It is stainless underneath and the stock is a composite stock.

Here is a short write up on the primitive weapon season here

I have the .504 Whitelightning. SS and made in 1993. Great rifles and hard to find these days, but I don't expect it to have a great resale value since most hunters don't seem to care much for blackpowder. They only reach for a muzzleloader because there is a special season, otherwise the could not care less. I shoot mine with heavy maxi balls and get very nice groups with them. Sabots also work well with heavier cast pistol bullets.
