I was lucky enough to get my hands on some old rcbs dies from the 40's mostly 22 dies but one produces a bullet that is .218 in diameter . Any one have an idea what this is for ? I thought the .218 bee but all the info I find on it states its a .224 bullet . Thanks for any info

Perhaps it is the diameter of the core that it makes.

Perhaps the 219 Donaldson Wasp or 219 Zipper or 218 Bee?

Many early 22 hornets were rechamberd .22 rimfires. .22 longrifle nominal bullet dia is .220.

Does it actually form a point on the .218 bullet? If not, it is most likely a core swaging die. The early benchrest guys set records with RCBS bullet dies and suggested various improvements to the basic swage die set, including a die to swage the cores to reproducible sizes and weights. RCBS also offered a core seating die.

I would greatly like to see a picture of your RCBS dies. They are pretty uncommon any more.
