So my problem is I bought a lee pro 1000 with the 9mm dies and unfortunately I dont have the moulds yet. So I installed my .45 dies onto the machine and soon learned that the shell plate holder also needs to be changed... Now do I have to replace the shell plate carrier too? or by replacing the shell plate alone will convert it to 45?

Here is the pieces I'm referring too.

Thanks

It's attached by some sort of clamping mechanism. The video I watched, for the same question, showed it, too quickly, for me to see exactly how.

Be advised that if your 45 ACP is large primer you will have to change the primer feed parts also.

Here are a couple of youtube videos that help. Guy is of a different political persuasion but his info on Lee stuff is good.

You will need to change the shell plate AND to the large primer system, unless your 45ACP brass has small pimers. http://leeprecision.com/reloading-presses/progressive-presses/progressive-press-accessories/pro-1000-shell-plate

You also need to change the case slider assembly.
