When I got home from work I found this sitting outside my reloading room.

It's a 5 gallon bucket of X-ray lead sheets. They are extremely thin and light. She left me several pairs of latex gloves since these have been in people's mouths. Anything special I should know about these?

Mash them down before putting them in the pot.

What you have there is Dental X-ray packet lead shield. They are mostly made by Kodak, now Carestream. I worked there for over 17 years. It's >96%lead, 1.5% PB and 1.5% SB. Good stuff.

Many years ago my dentist gave me some, i asked him what the alloy was and his supplier told him 98% lead, 2% Sb/Sn (antimony/tin)
I smelted a little in my garage, didn't see the little alligator clip still holding the film... Yikes!! what a stinky smoky mess that was. :veryconfu
Since then I do all my smelting outside.
