I kind of like the heavier bullets in mine. I have the Mi-hec 140 gr. flat base and the LBT 160 gr. WFN.

I use the Lyman 358242 121 Gr sized .357 in my Colt shoots flawless. Been wanting to try the 358311 though

122gr or heavyer bullet , sized to at least .357 dia . tc or swc nose profile
I use the Saeco 377, 122 gr tc & 929, 145gr swc i also have the saeco 384 rn &rcbs 122gr rngc but the tc & swc are more accurate from my 2 38 supers.

In the original Colt they tried to headspace on that silly semi-rim. Accuracy wasn't too good. In the 70's or early 80's Barsto came out with a barrel that headspaced on the front of the case and accuracy went up. Try a new barrel if the one you buy doesn't seem to be too accurate

this 38 super,if i'm lucky enough to get it, has a kart barrel . anyone know if this particular barrel headspaces on the case mouth or rim (semi-rim)? .will using .358 ,158gr. cast boolets seated in 38super case have a slight bulge at the case neck as opposed to the rest of the case .thanks for all the help.

I shoot in an unsupported barrel with hot over the books load with super comp brass. No bulge here

One of my 38 supers has a Kart barrel the other has a Nowlin barrel, both headspace on the case mouth. even though both barrels slug between .355 & .3555 both are more accurate with cast bullets sized @ .357 dia compaired to .356 dia. testing done from a ransom rest.

For 38 Super I prefer the heavier SWC boolits sized .357.

The first I cast for the Super was a Lee 142 grn. SWC

For IPSC/USPSA I bought a Saeco eight cavity mould for the Wilson designed #930 38-154-SWCBB. Drops 158 grains with my alloy.

Saeco #929 38-145-SWCBB

Saeco #928 38-145-RNBB

The 929 and 928 drop a perfect 145 grains from my alloy! I use these in my EAA Witness pistols.

I also have used H&G #275 09-125-SWCBB and a couple out of print Lyman four cavity moulds that drop 130 and 135 grain TCPB for plinking ammo.

I use BlueDot and Accurate #7 for my supers.

Not in 38 Super, but 9x23 Winchester, I use WW231 with 135 grain RN bullets sized at .356". Be sure and slug your 38 Super barrel to know for sure; some are cut at .357" and some at .355".

If I'm looking at high velocity loads I use AA#7 or VV 3n37. My Hercules Blue Dot did not impress me in 9x23, although I use it with good results in several other calibers.

Mine is an old Wilson LE Comp custom gun. I shot over 70K of 7.2gr of W571/HS7 under
a 147-150 gr commercial LSWC at .357 diam. Accurate and more than 1250 fps to make
major in IPSC. NOT OK to use Win or WW brass of ANY type, but Rem+P, Midway regular
and PMC +P would last forever.
