I have the same one but in 45 long colt. I love birdshead grips.

Nice. I have a 45 Colt Montado fitted with a birdshead grip by Alan Harton. I love the feel and balance of these mid-frame guns.

Do you know what is causing the turn ring at the back end of your cylinder there? I've seen that on adjustable sight guns when a sight-attachment screw was turned in too far, but never on a fixed sight gun.

Doug, that a nice vaquero I was always partial to the blue ones but that one is purty.

The Vaqero was a cowboy action shooters gun and had alot of custom work done to it. when you open the loading gate the cylinder will spin
freely . the ring was put there by the smith who did the work.

Is that a stainless birdshead grip? Looks to me like someone put that together. IIRC, Ruger never made any New Vaqueros with the colored case hardening finish on the frame like yours.

Great find. I'd love to get a 357 mag like that.

Doug, is that a shortened barrel on it. It looks like a 3 incher.

Copy that, Jeff. That explains it. Looks like you got a lot of extras in the six shooter!

I paid extra to have Alan put in a free-spin pawl, too, and the action is better than any of my other revolvers past or present. Mine is absolutely my favorite revolver.

John: The Montado came with a 3-3/4" barrel. But the lil' brother to this in 32 mag was cut down from 4-5/8". Neither has ever seen a factory load.

The CCH on the frame really contrasts cool with the barrel and gripframe. Nice combo!

Thanks, John. I saved for a long time to get these just the way I want them. The top of the barrels are stamped "Made for Doug XXXX By Alan Harton." I won't sell these. My son has Down Syndrome so they'll either go to my daughter or a nephew.

I had to get the adj sights put on because my eyes can't see the thin fixed sight blades anymore.

The sights are really sharp looking... Yep I agree you have to pass them on to family...

When I had these done, I thought I'd like the Single Six best for the lighter weight and handiness of the gun. Not so. Even though it's heavier, that Montado has incredible feel and balance. It's just perfect.

Good looking revolvers! I wish I had a 5.5" barreled version of it chambered for the .327 Federal Magnum. (Big surprise there!) ;)

My first and only Vaquero is the 3.750" Sheriffs Model 44 Special. That's it on the right next to my Andy Horvath 40 caliber Blackhawk that began life as a 50th anniversary 357.

I am really beginning to "see the light" when it comes to these short barrel single actions.

Jeff when I bought the Sheriffs model they had a Birdshead 357 like yours that I was real tempted by. I've always liked a birdshead grip.
