Today was the annual McDonald's kids duathalon. Kiera did it last year and did well but struggled a bit. She crossed the line in tears. This year she blitzed it! 1km run then 4km bike ride and a finish with a 1/2 run. Here she is about to cross the line:

She doubts her own abilities but has the potential to be a good runner....better than her old man.

My son was a C C runner. It never came easy but with hard work and extra practices (his idea & choice) he became the # 1 runner his senior year of high school. Seeing your picture reminds me of how proud I was no matter where he came in. I always told him that he already placed ahead of all to ones that chose not to even try out.
Congratulations Kiera!!!

Congratulations! It's good to see kids doing some exercise, I'm a Junior ROTC instructor and it amazes me sometimes how lazy and fat a lot of our kids are now, and I'm actually seeing the ones who are a cut above the average.

My oldest son ran cross country and swam in high school. Younger one isn't so physical, though he is running track this semester. Things like that just make a kid so much more self reliant and confident.

I can not imagine how big the gap between her and the next best would have been if she were permitted to wear those WORLD FAMOUS purple clothes.:bigsmyl2:

Great pictures sir.

Actually I never thought of cladding her in purple! Good idea for next year when Abby will partake also.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. I shared with her this morning.

I hope you gave her a big hug from all of us for a job well done. I would do it but my arms are about 3 inches to short.

Hot Dang! Way to Go for Kiera's sake! Keep up her enthusiasm for the sport. It will carryover into so many other processes in her life.

Congrats to her. I loved the kids tris and du's growing up. I was too busy for triathlons last year, maybe I can do a couple this summer.
