Guys, some kind soul long ago located the page from the Cast Bullets Handbook for .308 Win using the 311299 boolit and sent it to me, but I've lost it! Specifically, I want to use IMR-4895/H4895. If you'd be so kind, would you quote me the min an max loads for that combo? Thanks in advance!

I don't find that powder/bullet combo listed.

Yep, must've been so long ago that the kind soul that did it had the #3 or earlier CBH. Lyman's 49th Reloading manual nor the CBH #4 show this bullet/powder combo.

min would be around 26 grs and max is the same as for jaxketed rounds.
i'd bet around 29 without a filler shoots pretty good.
and 28.0 ish with dacron should shoot outstanding.

It's not in the 3rd or 4th Lyman Cast Bullet Manuals, but that boolit is listed in the 43rd Lyman. Unfortunately, neither of those two powders is.

I'm pasting the pertinent page from the manual, below:

Hoping maybe this might help...

The bullet is listed in the Lyman 49th Reloading manual as well as the 4th Cast Bullet Handbook, just not with the powders the OP is inquiring about.

It is possible I had been looking for 30-30 or 30-06 loads at the time, but I definitely need 308 at the moment. I see the IMR-4198 also listed above, do you see the min and max numbers for 311299 using that powder. Without a little context, I'm not sure how to handle the "suggested grains" copied above. As always, thanks for sharing!

Oops! I see R5R has pretty much covered it, my apologies!

this data was derived a couple of different way's.
I followed the 60% rule from hodgdon and I also used Richard lee's formula to walk the pressure data down. [confirmed my velocity estimates with my chrono]
then seen Lee had done the same work at the front of his book in volume #2.
larry Gibson later confirmed the pressure traces with his oehler strain guage.

Just a question, but jacketed loads for 200-gr run up to 40.5gr. IMR-4895. If starting load is 26 and sweet spot around 28-29, what's between there and 40.5 gr.? Just too much velocity and more leading? I would imagine we're pushing this chunk of lead pretty fast by then!
