Hello Everyone, I am new to casting but have been reloading for many years. I am looking for help and advice to load .308 160 gr. and 113 gr. boolits cast from range lead using Lee molds. I will be using gas checks and firing from a 22 inch Kimber bbl. with a mauser action. I will be sizing to .309 and using Liquid Alox tumble lube.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice, Fred

Do you have a copy of Lyman's "Cast Bullet Handbook"? If so, you should be able to find the data you're looking for there. If not, that's a manual you REALLY need to get.

Welcome,
Sounds like you have a nice rig to enter the cast shooting world. Good advice above on the Lyman Handbook. Lots of good info on casting and loads for a multitude of rifle. A good search on 308 loads will also help. There will be lots of disappointments with loads and leading as you learn the art; but hang in there. We all learn something everyday. I have only scratched the surface; but it is fun.!!!

While I am still testing for best load, I started with IMR 4895 at 24 grains behind my 208-gr 311299s. If you have Alliant 2400, safe starting load is 16 grains with most 170-210 gr. boolits. Start low, go slow!

i tried a couple of round with 28 grains of 4227 behind a 155 matchpoint and it seemed fine
