Looking For Swaging Help

Hello all. I'm new to the swaging scene and I'm wondering if any of you are from the Las Vegas area.I would really like to get together with someone with a bit of knowledge. I have learned I bit from reading,but there's nothing like watching first hand.

Can't help you there but there's several series of videos on Youtube. Better than a book to visualize the process.

+1 with 30yrcaster. The Youtube videos helped me quite a bit. They will also show you the different equipment that is available. Although I believe that all the videos I remember dealt with multi stage swaging process. What calibers do you want to swage?

If you don't get anybody closer, I'm in Flagstaff. Coming upon the summer months you might be looking for a reprieve from the heat. We're at almost 7000 feet, so it's considerably cooler. If your interested let me know......

Thanks for the reply's. I intend to start with the 22lr brass to .224 and then move up to 40 cal from 9mm brass with the dies from that BT Sniper fellow. I have access to a fair amount of free 9mm brass so i figure that would be the next logical step. from there i will more up to 30 cal rifle. with that note if any of you know someone willing to part with some 5.7x28 brass please let me know. thanks and have a great day.

Been to flagstaff several times on government business. Really nice place and good temps at 7000 feet. thanks for the invite and i'll keep you in mind. What do you swage?

224 with RCE's dies, and 40-44 and 40-45 with BT's.

How do you like those 224 bullets from 22lr? Do they shoot well? I have not recieved my dies as of yet. One thing that peaked my attention was the formation of what appear to be small folds towards the bullet tip i see in some of the vids i viewed. Do you have this issue and if so can they be removed? Guess i'm kind of a stickler for appearance.

I love my dies. When using jackets I get very good accuracy. Less than a quarter inch at a hundred yards. With 22LR jackets I'm a smidgen over 5/8 of an inch.

The small folds happen. I usually cull those out when going for accuracy but shoot them in my AR. I have found the closer the lead is in the tip of the HP, the less it seems to happen. The lead supports the jacket, giving better results.

Airforce1; I have found that trying to get 5.7x28 brass at a resonable price is rough, I have just been buying jackets from RCE for my .308's at not to much difference.

The folds usually happen due to to much swage lube on the jacket, just wipe a little off till you get the right amount, or try a different lube.
