I have a newer model blackhawk in .357 it is not a .9mm convertable can it be made into one? Just thought this would add even more versatility.

Yes it can. Takes a trip back to Ruger for fitting the 9mm cylinder unless you get real lucky and find one that fits.

Be safe rather than sorry. Contact Ruger's Customer Service and they'll tell you how./beagle

Thanks that's about what I thought just didn't know if only certain models or whatever could be so modified. Thanks and happy Easter

I thought that the .357/9mm convertables have a compromise bore size? If your gun was made specifically for .357 then it may have the slightly bigger bore that optimally matches .357 bullets. 9mm bullets are a good thou or two smaller so they may not correctly fill the .357guage bore correctly and thus your accuracy with 9mm would be iffy at best.

But as mentioned it's best to send Ruger an email with your gun's serial number. They'd be able to search on YOUR gun and find the info on what it was set up for. From there you can decide.

I got a convertible for my wife and the 9 cyl was used for jacketed bulk when I did'nt have time to load 38s . 9 shot better than she could , but 38,357 was a little better yet .

I have three different revolvers that all are able to shoot two calibers. The .45 Colt/.45 ACP Blackhawk is my favorite gun PERIOD. Adding the second cylinder is a great idea. The concern about the compromise barrel is not a concern for you anyway since you have the barrel already for .357. I load all the 9mm stuff with .358 cast boolits already, so if they fit and chamber correctly (either they do or they don't), it'll just add another dimension to our shooting. I say "DO IT"!

With my .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible, I simply use the .45 Colt diameter bullets. We are talking about a .001 difference. They also still shoot out of my .45 Auto just fine. ;)
