I was thinking that 3-4 grains Winchester 231 should work with this 105 grain bullet in my snuby. However, I also noticed that it seems to cast around .354 instead of .358... Guess could be used in 9mm already no need for sizing lol hopefully it will encage the rifling and not key hole. I also was curious, because I have seen a revolver blow up, with 3 grains of Winchester 231, and a jacketed bullet of 110 grains. I think this is because the jacketed bullet has a harder time squeezing through the barrel versus an unjacketed lead bullet..??

Do you have any reloading manuals to reference to? Don't be "thinking" get some reloading data, please.
You will be seeing another revolver blow up.

Based on my experience and a lot of reading the .354 boolits are too small for anything commonly available, including the 9mm. W231 is a great powder, just use the published loads from the manufacturers for beginners.

I believe my caliper is actually off have to buy a new one.. seems to be off by .005 or so.. :-( Either that or all my factory bullets were mistakenly made in the wrong diameter lol. What is the best manual to get for lead cast boolits not regular loads which I have no problem finding published data for... This one? http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?80869-New-Lyman-Cast-Bullet-Manual

My 105 SWC showed on my caliper at .356 but it shaves a little when run through a .358 RCBS lubesizer die. So, my digital caliper is off and yours could be too. I've loaded a lot of 105's with 3.8 grs of W231/HP38 for snubbies. My loading book shows that as the minimum load for a .38.

rexherring do you happen to remember the OAL for the cartridges? They say to make it 1.10, but that just about puts the entire bullet into the brass.

The Lyman cast bullet manuals are excellent. Grab one if you have a chance.

I'd have to look it up. I just seat the boolit and crimp in the top groove on the 105 Lee SWC.

1.10 inches must be referring to the 9mm .

The load I use for my Wife's S&W Airweight 38spcl is 5.1 gr231, Lee 358-105-SWC using wheel weights averaged 818fps. no pressure signs and can hit a 12"x12" plate ~5 out of every 10 rds free hand (I'm not the best pistol shooter) mainly due to my poor compensating for drop.
no pressure signs. I actually bumped the load from ~3grs after I had a 125gr jhp get stuck in the barrel.

There are calipers and then there are calipers. Plastic calipers are not worth using.

Generally the best way to measure a bullet is with a micrometer.
