From your Photo Your lyman 55 is classified by the "55 project" as Lyman 55 2Db dated 1972- 1976 it seems to differ from the 2Da because there is no Lyman Decal on the front. There is also a difference on the screw but I cant see from your Photo. If you want go to 55project.com to see all variation from the beginning to end. The website does not come up on all search engins . i think MSN. is best.
Very helpful if your Lyman Collector as I am. Yours should also have a snap in tube not screw in . They are extremely difficult to remove if your thinking of changing to a larger one

I've seen the binding on my 55 when residue of powder gets between the main rotor and the drum. I simply loosen the two screws holding the drum in place and removed the whole drum. I usually have found a hardened and almost shelllic looking film of powder residue. It was fairly easy to remove by using a stiff brush acutally the back side of my file brush.

Over the years and the conditions where you load will effect your 55 . You should once a year remove the drum and handle clean anything out and only use a fine brush or a very fine steel wool on the metal parts . with no oil. then grafite the parts and replace. It's simple
If your using Black powder subs. That stuff I found will cake up and get hard in a week Due to I guess exposing to the air and humidity

Mine was the same way. Took it apart and used a Scotch-Brite pad and a wire brush to clean all of the parts inside the thrower, cleaned it with Isopropyl Alcohol and re assembled it works very smooth.Still need to coat it with dry graphite.

Looks just like mine which was purchased in 72 or early 73. Still use it to load today.
