I am rebuilding an #4 Mk 1 Lee-Enfield that had been stripped right down to just a barreled action. The screw that I need, and nobody seems to have or list, is the small screw that holds the magazine catch in place in the action next to the sear. Most suppliers show this as a straight pin, but I need a screw as the hole is threaded and both of my other complete and original Enfields have this screw in them. PM me if able to help. The spring and retainer for the rear sight is another item no dealer has either, I think I may be able to fabricate these 2 items to hold the adjustable sight in place. Thanks.Robert

I cut off a small spring and made a piece of metal for my jungle carbine sight retainer if we are thinking of the right items. The screw you need might be found at a good hardware store in the metric small fastener bin. I love those metric bins they bailed me out more than once. If you find the right threaded item cut and file till it fits.

I very much doubt a metric thread will fit, these rifles were produced before we went metric over here.

Try Evans Custom Screws (http://www.customscrewsandmore.com/) for Enfield screws and odd bits. When nobody else has them, he can make them. Otherwise, give Brian Dick a call at BDL Ltd (http://www.bdlltd.com/About_Us.html). He doesn't list his parts on his website, but he does carry some.

Hardcast, are you talking about the ejector screw? And if so, have you tried Numrich's? http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/SMLEAlsoSeeEnfield-33496/No4MKI-42041/PartsList-37599.htm?page=6 2nd and 3rd item on this page is for your sight plunger and spring.

Here for your ejector screw, Item 4 http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/SMLEAlsoSeeEnfield-33496/No4MKI-42041/PartsList-37599.htm?page=1

These guys are pretty good also. Give them a call, they don't always have everything listed on their site. https://www.libertytreecollectors.com/productcart/pc/viewcategories.asp?idCategory=63

We have a WINNER! Scott at Evans Custom Screws has what I was searching for. The screw isn`t Metric thread but another type of English threading that was used until 1975 then they changed to Metric. Thanks to all that offered help. Robert
