hello everybody, i have just traded to a nice lee 6 cavity 44mag mold 429-200 bullet , and i have a surplus of 700-x powder, i know its probably not the best choice of powder , but would like to use it if possible for plinking and some deer hunting out to 50 yrds with my model 29 smith & wesson (8" barrel). if anyone has any data it would be appreciated.
thanks, thomas

A quick check of my files didn't turn up anything for 700X with a 200-grainer but my old Hornaday Handbook shows 5.5 gr. (800 fps 'starter' load) to 7.1 gr. (1000 fps 'max') with a 240 gr. swaged boolit. I've shot a lot of 700X with cast in both .38s and .44 Spls and found it seems to perform best in the 'mid-range' bracket.

6.2 gr. of 700-X under the 429215 was my go to mild load for years in a SBH. That bullet drops at 215 to 225 gr. depending on alloy. If I remember it was close to 900 fps in a 7 1/2" Super Black Hawk.

I really like 700X in the 44 for target work. I always loaded mine warm around 8.1g with a 240g LSWC. Very accurate in my buddies 629.
Can't help you with the 200grainer though.
