Hi Folks,

I'm considering taking the plunge and getting a 6.5" BFR in 475 Linebaugh. I'd like to hear opinions from folks who have used Lee MOLD DC 476-400-RF.

I might also consider MOLD DC C476-325-RF, although I would probably have the gas check heel removed.

Thanks, Tom

I loaded 50 rounds of Ruger 480 tonight with that boolit. I love it. I couldn't ask for better accuracy. A member here suggested 21 gr. H110 when I got this gun and it worked so well I haven't tried any other. I size them .479 and lube with Carnuba Red.

Its actually a good bullet. It could use a bit bigger crimp grove and maybe a bit bigger lube groves but to be truthfull it shoots well in every 475 ive tried it in. Now if we could get lee to put it in there 6 cav blocks so wed have a decent mold. those 2 cav lees are junk in my opinion.

Now, now Lloyd, two cavity molds are great!
The 400 works great from the BFR but the gun does not do as well with a lighter boolit.
Size for the BFR at .476". All the throats I have measured are .4765" and groove is .475".

It's an OK starter mold, but if you are going to shoot a lot, you'll probably want to get something different.

The LEE 2 cavity molds have some "personality" that you will have to work around and the boolit design can be improved.

Accuracy will be good, but my gun requires a little more lube and I wasn't impressed with the terminal performance of that boolit on game.

Yep, subsonic has it.....they are a little touchy and you have to hold your mouth just right to get them to work consistently, but once you figure it out they make a right satisfactory boolit.
I have been loading the Lee 400 grainers in 480 Ruger and have settled on a load of 21.5 grains of W296 over CCI large pistol primer in Hornady brass.
