Well, I finally have a .309 star sizer die coming, so I would love to have some seasoned 30/30 handloaders give me a bit of information.

I have some leverevolution powder that I bought specifically for my 30-30. I am having a hard time finding some good load data for cast boolits. I am planning on running 150gr flat nose gas checked boolits. How much can I push this boolit for the LeverEvolution Powder. I don't have a chrony, so velocity can not be judged only accuracy. I would like to push this to the very limit of what the boolit will do in my rifle (Henry 26 inch barrel). I am going to use felix lube and hornady checks.

Also, I have some unique that I would like to push a little harder. I have shot 10 grains under the same 150 and it is a nice plinking round, but I have heard that the 30-30 and unique go hand in hand.

Thanks for any and all info. If anyone has a pet load that they have found to be a good plinking/target/hunting load, I would love to have a heads up

There's data for the LVR on Hodgdon's website. Bear in mind that pressure with cast will be lower, velocity higher. With the low pressures generated by the powder, full jacketed velocity loads should be obtainable, but work up to it.

I appreciate the load data sight. I was just wondering if anyone has a nice hot load that is accurate with gas checked 150's

Birch look in the stickies. Larry Gibson had a good article on the 30/30 and L.R.

Sorry but the 150 gr bullet in the 30-30 does not have the mass to make the LeveRevolution powder burn efficiently. A 170 gr is about the lightest cast bullet that works well. Yes I know there is data for a 150 gr j bullet and it does work well but the pressure curve is sufficient with the 150 j bullet but not with the 150 cast. You can "search" for my articles where I tested it and give not only fps data but psi data also....measured data BTW.

I use a 195gr boolit and lvr in my 30-30 with outstanding results. Marlin XLR

I don't think either of your ideas will give good results. Try H4895 or similar. edit: 18-19 of H4895 will give better results than 12 (ouch) of Unique at nearly the same cost (even W/O the GC). I agree with Larry about the LeverE. I use it with 180 but not 150.

I have used 10-12grs Unique in my Marlin 336 .30-30 with either 150gr or 170gr Lee cast GCd and both make good plinking or hog loads. Now when I say hog loads, keep in mind that I also at times hunt them with just a .22LR pistol and a pocket knife, and jet in close and place the shot. So my idea of adequate calibers for hunting are somewhat different than what many would consider enough gun, but at close range with precision placement, they work just fine. Now I can't help with the LR as I have never used it. I use 3031 in my full power .30-30 loads.

.30-30 8.0 gr. Unique and 150 grain Lee or 311440 Lyman. Anymore than 8.0 grains and groups go South in my guns. (tried it in 5 of them) .30-30- Ackley=9.0grains and same boolits.
