OK guys I picked this thing up 2 years ago. I have the wrench for lube. This thing is dirty and I haven't used it because to be honest it intimidates me. So I want to know what I need to know. Cleaning, parts, setup etc etc. Thanks in advance gentlemen

Remove the handle, take the top cap off and heat everything gently in an old pot full of water. The lube will float to the top and is easily removed when it cools. That will get it clean enough for a place to start. Charcoal lighter fluid is a pretty good lube solvent for the persistent deposits.

Thanks for the info but isn't there more I should know? Seals etc

Go to the RCBS website and look for a downloadable manual for it. That should tell you everything you need to know. This is a pretty simple machine, nothing that should intimidate anyone.

Like Alan said, download the .pdf manual for your LAM. I find it easier to use heat (either an electric heat gun or a propane torch to get the old lube out when I am cleaning a lubrisizer.

Take the sizing die out, heat gently, and push out all the old lube you can. Then remove the lube piston and turn the press as needed to get all of it out.

The only other thing to be careful about is installing the sizing die retaining nut; the threads are pretty fine, make absolutely sure you don't crossthread the nut.

Textured rustolium sea green came out pretty close to old school rcbs color. I'm happy

Now to let it cure and reassemble

Wow, that looks so good it is making me think about refurbishing my LAM and Rockchucker.

After being ribbed by guys on this board for having an ugly RCBS press, I sand blasted it, and used Hammerite green flake paint, which has a black swirl in it. Ive done to other presses since then, no ugly presses will grace this pages again.

now my next question is i have a bunch of sticks of bac that are solid from my pan lube days. how would i go about getting them in this lube sizer or would i be better off selling of trading for hollow sticks?

Melt the BAC sticks in a slow cooker ( Crock Pot ) and pour it into the top of the RCBS lube sizer, after removing the round seal on the threaded rod.
Replace the seal and let it cool before using. When more is needed just repeat.
