Is there any noticeable difference in hardness or castability?

Yes there is. This topic has been covered here many a time so a quick search will turn up more info. Stick-on weights are nearly pure lead while clip-on type weights have higher tin and antimony concentrations.

Not to mention the adhesive and foam that smokes so much.

snowman, I soak the stick-ons in kero, gas, whatever. The tape then falls off or peels off readily. I cast a few of several diameters of boolits every year for use as bore slugs, even "raisins" are OK. The rest is saved for trade to muzzle loader shooters. One year I sent a flat rate box of ingotized clip-ons to a member who was running a postal match for a bribe. I should have sent two boxes, he only awarded me second place!

I copy and paste to a document when I find info I like and then save it. Here's some more info to add to what you already have. This is copied from a post.
I am finding a lot of stick on wheel weights. What do I add to the lead to make it equal the mixture in clip on wheel weights?
Stick on's are 98.1% PB - say a Bhn of 8
Clip on's are 96.5 % PB - is a Bhn of 12
So .... 30% Lino and 70% Stick on's = Bhn 12.2
A ratio of 3 1/2 lbs lead to 1 lb of Lino will approximate w.w. alloy.

That double sided tape makes great flux!
Kinda stinky though.
