where to find thin patch material, .009" thick

Hi guys,

TC sells a prelubed patch that mics .009 inches thick. I'd like to find the material they use so I can buy in bulk.

Any idea what it is?

Anyone seen tight woven cotton at your local fabric shop that is that thin?

It's tight weave cotton twill (sometimes called drill). You can take your mic to the fabric store or wallyworld fabric section and shop by-the-yard. The type of fabric is labeled on the end of the bolt.

Or the Butch's cleaning patches are the same tight weave cotton and they do measure .009"-- if you can use the pre-cut square type. Just choose the best size from the drop down menu and they are on sale now at Midway. Seems like a pretty good price and you could get something else to spread out shipping cost.

Yep, I happened to have some of the Butch's triple twill patches and measured them-- .009".

I find that hard to believe, but that would be fantastic. looks like it would be the perfect vessel for the lube to lay and dry on for a dry patch. I need to look into that a bit.

OK believe what you want. However, just to make sure I dug out two different packs of Butch's triple twill patches. I mic'd the patch material in the 2 1/8" sq size and they are .011" thick.
I mic'd the patch material in the 1 5/8" sq size and they are .009" thick.

I appreciate the effort. The 1 5/8 square sounds like EXACTLY what I need.

when i needed what you want for a new patched .50, i got 2 yards of med. weight linen off of the internet this winter. its tough, thin and works perfectly in that gun.
