I decided to try a lighter gas checked boolit. My usuals are 190-200 gr in a .357. Both revolvers and a Marlin 1894c. I use a lot of plain base designs but I just got a Freechex II for .358s and was wondering if anyone has messed with this boolit? My 6 cav. mold is ordered from Midway. I searched it but found nothing. I may even try it in my 336 .35 Remington.

I have a lee tl358-158rn that shoots great from a marlin and a gp100, tumble lubed with alox, cast from ww, I do not see any lead, I did shoot some hornady lead once that did lead up pretty quick. Iknow it is not the SWC but no one else answered your ?? yet so I hope this helps.

I get 1800 fps and great accuracy with that bullet in ACWW with Lil'Gun in my 20" Rossi.

UPS brought me the new mold, Lee C358-158SWC. It's a 6 cavity. Within an hour I had it running. I cleaned it per Lee's instructions and smoked it using a Bic fireplace lighter, the long one. Works great, smokes heck out of a mold if you want. In no time I had a pile of nice boolits ready to lube and check. This mold was a pleasure to use. The Lee boolit looks a heck of a lot like the old Lyman 358156, which is why I got it. My boolits are averaging more like 166 gr. as cast with 50/50 ww/pb and measure .360. Lately I've gone with more "RF" types and they're good but I wanted to explore the traditional old SWC loads near top end. The meplat on the Lee is as big as any other I have plus the sharp front band. Now to re-read some of the great stuff here on these SWCs
