Been thinking of ordering one of these from Mr Potterfield and was wandering if you guys have had any luck with it? I got a Italian copy of a Lyman Great Plains Hunter in .50 cal I'll be using it out of. Is it worth the 20.00?

I've got one in .580 for my Miroku '61. Gun doesn't shoot them for beans but the mould is fine and makes good boolits.

Grim Reaper, Go to the FS Reloading site. They are a Lee Factory Outlet. I bought several of their combo molds with bullet and ball, as well as one of their 6 cavity .32 Maxi Ball molds. The prices were good and the service was great. With a two cavity mold you can always shoot Round Ball too.

My thompson center new englander in .50 likes them as well as a maxiball , and as well as patched round balls , always fun to try other designs and at the time I got it I was thinking quicker reloads in the field

Doesn't the GP Hunter have a 1:32 twist? Will it be able to shoot the Minie?

I would say yes it will shoot the minie as well as a maxi , I would also shoot it with patched round balls , vary your charges and give it a whirl , black powder , maxi or minie , patched balls and good lube , play with your powder charge .

I've got a Lee .50 cal Maxi Ball for my CVA Bobcat. It shoots accurately with a 90gr load.

Well, I got mine in last night from Midway. Cast about 20+ rounds. Love the mold now just to shoot and see how it shoots!

I will say I am impressed with it. Super easy to load and it shoots really good too. I am happy!

How much powder and how far does it shoot good. I used one years ago in a 58 Zouve but had to really keep the charge down because of the thin skirt. I've been thinking about one for a 50 fast twist that I now have mostly for a quick follow up shot but have been wondering about the thin skirt. In the 58 it was my most accurate shooter out to 100 yards but past that I had to use the lyman with the heavy skirt (I forgot the number) and a lot more powder. We were shooting out to 200 yds offhand with the military sights at a very big target.
