Birchwood Casey Tru Oil?

Is this stuff supposed to be thick and sticky? I just opened a bottle that I have had for years, sealed in the original plastic bag and the bottle seal was tight. Obviously, this is the first time I've used this stuff.

I'm used to Tung oil, thinned. Pour it on and it spreads out and soaks in. This stuff may soak in, I'm not sure.

I'm glad this stock was already sealed.

The stock is my CMP 03A3 stock. Very nice, drop in fit.

No. Everything has a shelf life opened or not. You could cut it to thin it out but if it were me I would pick up a fresh bottle.

Just chunk it. It's supposed to be about as thin as polyurethane and have a very slight amber color. Yours has curled up and died.

Or order the genuine 100% Tung oil online, supposed to be a bunch nicer product, though it takes more work to get it there

Thanks, guys. Three sets of gloves, three pieces of 00 steel wool, and maybe half a cup of oderless Mineral Spirits and I've got the bulk of it off. I'll monitor it for a couple of days for bleed out before I mix up the tung oil. I get my pure tung oil from Woodcraft - a local store now. I had an account with them when they had one store in Woburn, Mass.! If you want quality and are willing to pay for it, shop Woodcraft.

After only an hour of that gunk I doubt I will have much bleed out, but I'm taking no chances. I've got maybe a month of mornings on this stock ahead of me. Yes, I am very familier with Tung Oil.
