I am convinced that this load at 125 yards will completely ruin a deer's (or other creatures) day!

At 100 yards, this load penetrated 20" of wet phone books.

NOE 360 180 WFN GC
Alloy - 50/50 lead/ww
Sized .360
Small Rifle Primer
15.0 gr / Lil Gun

Marlin 1894c .357 Magnum

Looking good.
I think that will stop a whitetail fairly well.

I used one just like this ahead of 6.2 gr Herco to take a nice doe at 45 yards this year. Worked just like you said.

I have shot quite a few deer with Glen Larsens' original C-358-180 that your NOE boolit is cloned from....they all just plain up and died.....some of them were "extended" ranges too. The one I shot at 242 yards with DA 357MAX ENCORE PISTOL just plain spun around and died....I guarantee at 125 yards your 357MAG boolit will be moving faster than that boolit was from my 357MAX @ 242yards. It is possibly the most useful boolit design ever made in 35bore and that weight range. THANK YOU GLEN

Nice mushroom. Those are air-cooled and not water dropped or heat treated, right?

I want to try mine in the Whelen for short range whitetail.

perhaps "The Load" or "The Load" or even "The Load" will work good!

then I think Rocky has "The Load" for reduced speeds also.....

hmmmm...

Lil' Gun in the rifle really gets them moving doesn't it? The 14.5 grains I use gets 1,732 fps average from an 1894C.

We expect a full blown field test come fall. Looks like that will ruin a critters day.

Impressive indeed... what lube did you use?... don't see traces of anything on the mushroom....

Homemade Speed Green was the lube.

It will work on elk too out to 100 yds with that kind of penetration.

Great post. Thanks. That load does about 1850 fps from my 1894C. At 100 yards, it should still be doing about 1507 fps. At 150 yards it should be 1363 fps.

I have both, the Glen original and the Ranch Dog reissue.

Bought the RD version in hopes he had changed the nose profile slightly as the bullet must be seated deeper than I want in all of my revolvers just because the throat in the cylinder stops it long before cylinder length is an issue.

Hope to play with it this spring/summer in the 10" contender in Mag, Max and Herrett for use next fall.

I bought the Ranch Dog 359-175 mold which casts them at 179 grains fully dressed. My alloy is wheel weight metal and 2% tin which I air cool. I tried LIL-Gun and just couldn't get the accuracy I wanted. The speed was there @ 1750fps but not my standard for accuracy. I finally settled on Alliant 2400 powder producing right at 1638fps and top notch accuracy to boot. I'm thinking within 100 yards, my load with 2400 powder should work on our Pennsylvania Whitetail Deer. What do you folks think?

I do load the Lyman 358156 bullet which are 164 grains fully dressed, at 1800fps using ACC#9 powder. Accuracy with that load is beyond reproach. Same alloy as the 179 grain Ranch Dog bullet also.

Both loads were tested in my Marlin 1894C with it's microgroove rifling and an old 1979 vintage Bushnell Banner 2.5 x 20mm scope. The scope and 1894C were born the same year.

Hey MT,

I have that mold -- would you mind sharing what cartridge overall length you seated it to in order to get it to feed reliably in your lever gun? Just curious man and thank you for that info.

I also have the 160 grain version of that and it is just a HAMMER in my .357's............

I'm really glad that I got in on that group buy for Glens C-358-180. Its the most accurate bullet I have shot out of my 20" Bullberry 357 Max.

Oh Man.... MY favourite

I shot one like that one year, and it stayed frozen for a winter, thawed in spring and it was more tender than beef tenderloin from a young heifer

GOOD EATING!

When I lived in Wisconsin, someone in the group would kill a fawn that size just for burger meat.
