Anyone out there know where I could locate a 2 jaw, self centering lathe chuck? Could use one for 1"X8 spindle, for a good price.

............Just the usual suspects, Enco, MSC, Travers, JTL, McMaster-Carr, H&H Industrial Products, among the few that come immediately to mind.

Thanks I'll check it out, but I was hoping to find one used.

A 2 jaw might be a bit hard to find used, just a thought.

............I checked the JTL catalog last night and they have a 2 jaw scroll, Adjust-Tru type (import) plain back for $203. A backing plate threaded 1-1/4-8 is like $45. You might find one used, but you'd have to really look as they sure aren't real common.

I have a Buck 2 jaw Adjust -Tru LOO intregal back, that came with my lathe. I have yet to use it. I sure don't know what a new one would cost. I have a 6 jaw Buck with the Adjust-Tru back plate and just a new chuck would cost $1212, without a backing plate, according to the catalog, ................EEK!!!

Thanks Buckshot,
I've seen some of those prices a few years ago, and they scared me then. Thats why I was hoping to find one used, old, beat up and rusty--as long as it worked.
i guess I'll keep looking

why dont you get a four jaw self centering and just remove two jaws? Might be easier to find on Ebay and the like.

Leave it to Buckshot to have nothing but the BEST-Buck Chuck. I was going to mention them, but was afraid to, cause they cost a lot. But if you want precision, and it will last several lifetimes.

There a new 6" Buck two jaw without backplate on evilbay. .99 cents and no bids, but I don't know what his reserve is. Shipping is pretty cheap for a chuck.
