Went by the local gun shop today and found not much new. But on the rack with the other 22s45s was a military style single shot ..22. Heavy barrel and the rear sight marked 25-250 yards built just like a Mosin sight. The only markings i found were a triangle with a T in the center. What could anynoe tell me about this guy?

see photo 1

without pictures it is difficult to discern what you have exactly.

The distances may be in yards, meters, or Arpents depending on if the gun was make for domestic or export and the year of manufacture
There should be serial number on the right side of the receiver on the barrel knox.
This could be a Vostok imported from the early 1960s on.

I just pulled my Polish WZ-48 out of the rifle safe to compare markings and rear sight with your description.
From your description it sounded a little like the WZ 48, but it's not. I can't tell you what you have, but I can tell you you don't have a Polish WZ 48.

Went by and picked it up today.. did some further checking and found out it is a TOZ 8 made at tula arsenal in 1950.. will try and get some pics when i get it cleaned up.
PS, I traded 100 rnds of LC 57 m2 ball ammo for it.

You got a heck of a good deal on that gun. I have one and they are extremely accurate. I have yet to have a Russian 22 that was not.
you will find fit and finish a bit crude, but the action is the heart of their target rifles.

Well i got it cleaned up and oiled. Took it to the back yard and set up a target at 25yrds. Seems to shoot well and has an excellent trigger. First group of 5 rnds of cci std went in to 1/2 inch. The next group of fedeal american eagle went into 3/8" then i tried some Aguila super colibri. 5 rnds in 3/8".
I checked the trigger pull with my gauge and found a very consitant 1.4 lb pull. I think it will be a good shooter. Cannot find the card for camera so no pics yet.

I suspect those overly large groups are the shooter and not the gun...:kidding::kidding::kidding::kidding::kidding ::kidding:

I would really like to be capable of shooting that well myself...
