I'm going to re barrel my ruger 308 win compact it has a 1-10 twist. Pretty much any thing over 1600 fps the accuracy goes south. I'm shooting a a Lyman 311299, 200 gr. I want 2000 fps this gun has a 16 in barrel so I'm thinking about have one made at least 18 inch. Having the short barrel makes it so light and manageable in thick brush. I can carry it all day it's like deer hunting with a 22 lr. So to make a long story short what twist would be best. I have been told 1-12. I Want to keep the barrel as short as I can. Any advice would be great.
