Check any news feed, it even made BBC news, the assault weapons ban has been dropped by Senate democrats. Hopefully now things will begin returning to normal.

good news........but I dont think for a moment that the battle for 2ed ammendment is over yet. We had all better stay united and proactive and on top the issue.

there was about 4-5 bills that were going through.
they REALLY want the whole back round check thing passed through this time so they can get EVERYTHING registered.

yes, and now RINO senators can go back home and tell people how they shut down the Feinstein bill and how they compromised by signing off on background checks because that's reasonable, after all, and much of the electorate will buy how wonderful and freedom-oriented these brave RINOs are.

And in a few months there will be another big shooting and the left will wade through the blood waving evil assault weapons and push a couple inches further.

Boil, Froggy, boil.

Or am I just being paranoid and cynical?

This just means that since the cant get it in through the front door, they will try to sneak it in by the back door! We now have to watch every piece of legislation for ammemdments and "riders" to ensure that they dont attach it to something else!

The fight aint over, it's just taken a new form! Any sensible person should not belive that the Dems will quit this easily. Dont celebrate yet!

Don't rejoice yet. The SOB's will slip something in on another bill and get it passed.

Make those purchases for reloading equipment. Buy the reloading press, sizer, and bullet caster now! Get fitted up to manufacture your ammunition needs now not later.

I think this was the dems plan all along. Now they can say they have compromised, and really push for bipartisan support on background checks. A big step toward total confiscation is to have all guns registered.

And I'm sure everyone with untrackable guns(not the first buyer) will be sure to do the background check..........................

The dems never expected the passion with which the people responded to their grab. They have decided to wait until after the 2014 mid term elections, when they expect to have a majority in both houses of congress to press this issue. Give us some time to forget what they are about. Obama signaled what was coming with his silence on the issue in the past several weeks. Believe you me, they have not given up, just waiting to do it when we have given them the power to get all their liberal socialist agenda thru. People better wake up and vote this next election cycle.

She is going to try to push it through as an amendment and apparently there is some sort of Ammo ban amendment she's also proposing out of left field. It ain't over. Don't believe it for a moment.

She said a while ago she didn't have any hope for her crappp to pass and planned a slow a tact
One thing at a time as tack on amendments to other bills.
What we just saw and went through was no more than a Dog and pony show.

Right there is the key to everything!!!! We can all scream as loud as we like, make all the threats we like, write our Representatives and Senators but in the end it will mean nothing if we don't get out and vote and get our neighbors off their sorry arses and get them to vote too! I have no doubt what-so-ever that we have the libidiots outnumbered but they seem to have the upper hand because they take their cause very seriously and they DO vote. It's time the silent majority speaks up and it's time we all do more than just rant on an internet forum, it's time we actually get out and talk to people, get active, go to our friends and relatives and do whatever it takes to get them to go out and vote because in many ways this upcoming election is even more important than the presidential election of this past fall. Proclaiming support, bumper stickers, etc are all fine and Jim Dandy but people it's going to take more than that, a lot more! We are going to have to beat these idiots at their own game and if we could get anywhere near the same percentage of conservative majority to become active the Libs wouldn't be able to win a race for anything. If both houses fall under Liberal control it's nobody's fault but our own because we easily have them outnumbered, your vote may not be enough so use whatever means necessary to take a group of people with you when you go vote!

Not sure of the validity of it but they had it posted on Facebook that John Kerry would be bringing the small arms treaty up Monday in N.Y. at the united nations.

I truly believe that the Democrats did not expect the feedback that they got from gun owners. I think the Democrats know it would be political suicide to pass any ban.
Like any thing they keep hammering away they will eventually persuade the general public. Even today they use plan out lies and all types of misinformation to persuade people. They keep inching the line in the sand to their position.
Do you think it was not planned that Democrat Senator Manchin ,which was seen as trying to break the grid lock in D.C., made the statement" No one needs an Assault Rifle to kill a deer".
Do you not think that our kids are being brain washed against guns when a kid is expelled when he eats a Pop-Tart and it resembles a gun? Given thirty years what beliefs will they have of guns?

Until after the elections! We know who they are and what they really mean even if they do SEEM to be backing off, we need to still vote these rascals out because we know the ones that changed their minds will do so again after they are re-elected, let's not give them that chance! If anyone here is unsure of where a candidate stands then it should be a top priority to find out who is on our side and then get out and vote for him/her and take someone else with you!

This is a sideshow.

The real goal is 'universal background checks' which will equal a national gun database after a while.

A national gun database has been the prerequisite for gun confiscation. I will start bit by bit - "tighten up
a few loopholes" and now that kind of gun is no longer OK for this kind of person, so we send in the
confiscation team. Drip, drip, drip.

Beware, it may not be the victory one thinks it is.

Just makes more control seem palatable

Dropping the assault weapons ban is NOT good news. There is no way the bill with an assault weapons ban would have ever passed. It would have killed the entire bill. Now with out the ban they will still try to get universal background checks passed as well as other things.

They didn't even really drop it. They just dropped it from the larger Gun legislation package. The Assault weapons ban may still get a vote on its own. They just dropped it from the bigger picture to get the rest passed. Nothing is dead yet. I read four articles about this and not one said it was dead. Just dropped from the larger package. This isnt even close to done.
