I have a .308 mold that drop 160gr bullets. I want to load some of these in my fr-8 Mauser. I have some Reloader 7, 3031, and a little but of 2400 on hand.
They will be gas checked, and cast with wheel weights. Not looking for super light gallery loads, but I would like them to be hot enogh to have a reasonable poa-poi at 100 yards
Thanks.
Jason

The Lyman #4 Cast Bullet Handbook is probably the best source for the load data you are looking for; ten or more powders including the ones you mentioned. While they may not list the exact bullet you have, the 160 grain starting loads should be safe with most any 160 grain cast bullet.

18-20 grs of 2400 should get you to POA at 100 yds.

I'd also try the RL7; start at 25 gr, use a 1/2 -3/4 gr dacron filler and work up in 1/2 gr increments until accuracy goes south. You best accuracy will be in the 1800 - 1950 fps range and the accuracy load should easily regulate to the adjustments of the FR7s sights in my experience.

I also suggest adding 2% tin to your COWWs and let the AC'd bullets age 7-10 days before use or the WQ'd bullets 48 hours. The tin will give you much better cast bullet alloy with a BHN in the 14-17 range.
