I have it doing multiple double taps just to show you what is possible.
Yes that is a hollow point mold.

I also have it setup so if i turn a switch on it double taps and if the switch is off it just does a single tap.

This video is private. Sorry abut that.

It's the power of the Plc!!!!

All software. Took a 6 pack of beer and two hrs to rewrite the program to do the multiple taps.
The new program by default does a single tap.
It is running 10 seconds.
2 secs at top before lead is poured. 6 seconds for lead pour and cool and then 2 seconds at bottom.

When you apply 24vdc to input 4 it adds the 'double tap' in.
There is a counter that is adjustable to the amount of taps (software).
I run 3 taps in addition to the standard. This is for the hp mold.

Each tap adds 1.15 seconds to cycle.
So right now the cycle time to do hp boolits is 13.45 secs so about 500 a hour. That's for the 'double tap'
The single tap is still 12 boolits a minute or 720 a hour.
It's not the fastest but I don't have to do anything but turn it on and hit a button.

Can you email me a copy of the new program?

I don't need any of this, but I want it!

Great work.

That is a good video of it doing HP boolits.
You can see that it sometimes takes 3 taps to get the boolits off the HP pins.

Hatch, that is icing on the cake, great work! With the multiple taps how do you keep the occasional drop of lead from the pot off of the exposed ram or is it not a problem?

I thought of making a fail safe device for mine that operated similar to the 2200 year old greek holy water dispensers. Around 1:57 in this video. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDIQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DmH9 m72q3ElU&ei=HoVKUcKjHIOzqQHYhoGYCQ&usg=AFQjCNGlFvM9ymyG6FvVTxy31jkMe0bkSg

If only one bullet dropped there would not be enough weight to open the door and the machine would stop. If two hit it, it would open and hit a switch that allowed the machine to continue.

Lots of other ways to do the same thing more "high tech" to keep from a double fill though.

Right now it drops on the return spring as its above the rod for the air cylinder. I need to make a aluminum shield to deflect the lead drops.
I didn't worry about it this weekend because i needed the machine to run as i wanted to load this week.
I have to replace the spring because of the drops of lead building up on it.

Jm, the trap door would work if you could adjust it for the weight of each boolit size you cast.
When doing HP boolits there is no way to 'double fill' a mold. What happens is the boolit gets stuck 1/2 out the mold and fails to close.
If the mold doesn't close than it can't spring return to the top. Everything on my automation design is based on the top limit switch. If this switch is never closed it can't start. It can't pour lead either because that's tied to being on the limit switch.

Jm, the trap door would work if you could adjust it for the weight of each boolit size you cast.

Figured I would do it the same way the scale works at the doctors office. Slide the little weight to the right spot so it can measure my weight. Lots of way to skin the cat in this instance. You could even have spring steel wires in a tube, one up high and one down low. If only one bullet enters no contact is made. A stack of two makes contact from the upper to lower and opens a trap door, making it ready for the next set.

Similar to this idea but instead of short 380 brass missing the limit switch and tall 9mm brass tripping it, the current through two bullets make contact but just one cannot.

The reverse thinking would be a flash light that normally holds two cells won't do anything with one. Put in two and it lights up.
