I'm cursed with an addictive side that finds something I enjoy....then I tend to go OVERboard on it.

Been down that road with trap, skeet, bullseye pistol, accurate rifles, quality hand tools and motorcycles....to name just a few.

Ordered a 9mm , 135 gr RF mold from NOE this afternoon. Looking at the site and the molds offered....I may be in TROUBLE.:D

Sorry FN in MT alas I have your syndrome. I began casting about 18 months ago and I now own 32 Noe molds. Plus I'm on a few group buys from Noe. They are great quality and cast good boolits in short order. Just follow the directions and preheat them 3x then they drop excellent boolits.

Being addicted to quality moulds like NOE and Mihec's, is sure a lot better than addicted to crack:-D.

I have been casting bullets and reloading for over sixty years. However, I have to say that the "Good ol' days" are TODAY. I have moulds from all of the major manufacturers from over the years. NOE and MP (Mihec) are the best I have seen. I am still using and enjoying some H&G moulds but have to admit, that as good as they are, the NOE and Mihec moulds are made with greater precision. That is simply a matter of the equipment that is available today to the makers.

ALREADY have issues with the MIHEC molds...have five of them. And two more on order.

I guess it could be worse. I could be infatuated with Beanie Babies or Casino Gaming. LOL.

REALLY looking forward to the mold...should be here on Monday. Appreciate the input on proper use too.

This is the thread I've been looking for, just a bull session about NOEs.
As I enter my 3rd year of casting, I put in an order for a RG4, the 135/128 gr 9mm version.
I plan to drop some HPs tomorrow night, as soon as it gets here. Pretty psyched, in case you didn't pick up on it.
I have a baker's dozen Lees and I have no problem with them–looks like I'm in for a treat.
The MP molds look amazing, too. BTW–can somebody explain to me what MiHec and MiHa stand for?

Miha is a Gentleman in Slovenia who produces absolutely wonderful brass molds.

Go to the "Group Buy" area. All sorts of group buys for various custom Miha molds.

mmmhmmm miha is the guy's name.
I remember when he first started posting on the board.
I tried to warn him to train some helpers and buy more equipment right off the bat.

now that I think about it, I have never seen a vintage beanie baby in the S&S section here.

MiHec is a combination of Miha Prevec (the mold maker's name in Slovenia). A terrific guy who builds wonderful molds. MP molds is (you've probably figured out by now) is Miha Prevec.

Thank you for that! All becomes clear. Yes, his molds are works of art. I've seen them and fully intend to invest one day.

FN, as fellow Montanan, I feel your pain. I have NOE # 5 on order :0
Splendid tools they are. Wait till you get a brass one, then you gonna want to replace every other mold with brass

Jim,

Saw you had smelted down some Range Lead. From the Range out side of Kalispell, with the pistol range in the woods, and the separate rifle range? Can't think of the name of the Club.

A Dr. Buddy of mine just got into shooting and handguns, she took me out there a few times this past summer when I visited.

I've got a couple of Miha's molds already, I'm afraid to even LOOK at the NOE's.

Looking forward to my 9mm mold to arrive on Monday. I've got three SIG's in 9mm and they are the only "problem children" in the bunch. Zero issues with any of the other autos's with cast or the revolvers. But need to get properly tooled up for 9mm. My lone 9mm mold is undersized resulting in horrific leading. Need something I can size .357 or .358.

I'm afraid the days of calling MT Gold and getting nines for $70 per 1K are over. I'm out of the cases of slugs I had for 10 years or so....and they are not taking any orders. So time to get self sufficient with 9mm as well.

Just got 2 NOE and 1 Mihec mold , now am waiting for the handles from natchez they are supposed to be here friday , company mandatory meetings all week and trip with family on the weekend , so hopefully I get to cast on the 25th ,mihec provided sprue plate lube and NOE provided bullplate , They look sweet and I am sure from all the good things I have read here on cast boolits that they will be just what I wanted , only waiting on more chances to purchase in the size and shapes I am after

If you want to be saved - just box up all you moulds and send to me - I'll keep them out of sight and out of reach until you come to your senses. :kidding:

the club is NVSC (north valley sportsman club). The range lead didnt come from there fortunately, it is much cleaner, but there has to be tons of lead there. It has not been mined at all since the club began in the early 90's
Yeah, I used to be able to walk into Norms place and get a bag of 1000 9mm's or 45 cals for 37 bucks! (seconds) Now, you cant visit, and there is no seconds as he has gotten his quality control way up there :)

Mold arrived this morning. Utah and Swede is apparently a LOT closer to Montana than Slovenia and Miha. Much quicker turnaround when I order from NOE.

I cast a hand full in pure lead as I need to slug three 9mm barrels. Even a bit wrinkly in a less than up to temperature mold they looked NICE.

Slugged my barrels and they ran from .3565" to a full .357" so the .360" diameter mold was a good idea. Ran a few through my .358" sizer, loaded a few dummies and they chambered easily in all three pistols.
Pulled two bullets and they were only slightly undersized from the taper crimp. Almost nothing. Cast from a harder alloy I may be OK. FINALLY something POSITIVE in the 9mm quest!

So far so good!

Next I need to cast some bullets, have a WW's with 2% tin mix in the pot already.

Maybe things are looking UP??
