I just picked up a set of 357 Auto Mag forming and loading dies and now am wondering, what about a 357 RIMMED Auto Mag made from 307 winchester brass and chamber either a super blackhawk or a redhawk (Redhawk I could use moon clips and regular brass).

I can't find ANYTHING on it being done in the past. Anyone know of a logical reason why it can't be done?

Bottle neck cartridges do not work well in revolvers. When fired the case expands from the shoulder back jamming the back of the case against the recoil shield making it impossible to index the cylinder and almost impossible to open it. The 22 Jet's extreme body taper was supposed to alleviate this problem. It seemed to work as long as everything was absolutely dry, no oil what so ever on cases or in the chambers. The 357/44 Bain and Davis I believe also started out as a revolver cartridge as did the 22 Harvey K-Chuck. None of the worked out too well.

Actually there are several bottle necked revolver cartridges. They all work fine provided you degrease the cartridges and chambers.

Doc.... go look at the 357/44 Bain & Davis cartridge ballistics.
