If you are close I have a extra bag. Its not worth the shipping cost for 1 bag.

Some claybusters have ridges that cause it to expand further with slugs. What about the ones mentioned above?

The petals on the claybuster wad are thicker and did not work well for me with the lee slugs. I can't say about other aftermarket replacements. On left below is a claybuster copy of winchester right is winchester

The federal wads fit the lee slug as well. They are straight wall wad and can not be a direct substitute for tapered wads like rem and win wads.

DON'T ORDER FROM GRAFS AND SONS, they have a 4 week shipping delay. a few months ago i placed a order and they did not mention that on their home page, and i was wondering what was taking so long so i called and they told me about the delay, i canceled the order. if they are that behind i imagine there are people in the area looking for jobs.

The 4 week delay is pain, but Grafs has always been my number one choice for supplies. I understand the delay and if I can't wait I would try somewhere else. Grafs prices when you count in the shipping has always been the lowest in my experience. There customer service was stellar the one time I needed it. I would suspect they don't want to hire people and then let them go when the dust settles.

Let me ask this question: What is you alls suggestion for a wad and slug for the mossberg 500 12g 24" rifled bore barrel? I have only been able to get a lymand 525 slug and a .678 ball to push through. Cannot get a Lee to fit or .690 to fit. Here is a picture of what I have.

Both of those should work. I have loaded the Lyman slug, and have started playing with the round balls. I use the WAA12 wad
though. I am heading out to load up a few .678 balls to try out. I use the Herco powder. I shoot a Rem. 870 w/ a Hastings rifled barrel.
Do you have a shotshell reloading manual?

I just finished (among other things) loading ten .678 balls up (thats all I had) for my next range session. Hopefully I will have good results with these smaller balls. These balls plus the wad size should be perfect.
The last range session with the .690 balls, loaded the same. They did pretty good considering the ball plus wad was too big. The barrel slugs at .727 groove diameter, and the .690 ball + the wad petal thickness x2 was .735. Needless to say, the petals DID compress.
I will report back with my results.
Joe, I hope you are able to get some good loads made up.
