Recently, I was on the phone with a guy that has turned out to be a very good friend. Somehow, the conversation wandered to shotguns and I mentioned I had a 1930s something LeFever double that my great uncle had left to me. I said something about needing to get snap caps for it as I didn't like leaving it cocked and didn't like dry snapping the pins.

He informed me that he was a machinist and offered to make a couple of snap caps for me. "Sure, that would be great!" His package was at the post office this morning.

Below, you can see how he did this. The cap is made of four parts, the base, the main section, the brass button and the spring for the button. He sent me four of these and it's been decades since I've seen machine work that looks this good.

They fit my old LeFever perfectly.

Very nice, sure beats the plastic junk one that got stuck in my gun last week.

Jim I agree that is some nice work. Looks like you have found a good friend. You both are in tall cotton. Enjoy your friendship.

Those look great. Do you think he would offer to sell me some? :D 4 or 5 would do the trick.

I seriously doubt it. I had to be very specific with what and how I would post to get his permission to 'show & tell'. He made it clear "I don't mind doin' this for you, but I ain't in business and ain't takin' orders."

When I saw the OP I thought that's a gloat. When I saw this one I thought: For sure that's a gloat
Great to have friends. Better to have capable, generous friends, and the knowledgeable friends here.
