Way back when I bought a couple police turn in leather basket weave holsters for cheap in really nice condition. Unfortunately someone used some kind of polish or coating and its flaking off leaving the leather exposed underneath. Being a sucker for nicely boot polished leather is there any way of removing the crappy coating without damaging the leather underneath?. Thanks, Frank

A Stiff Bristle brush and saddle soap may take the loosening finish off. Once you get the leather back to the basic leather, I would suggest good leather dye and then a followup with either Mink or Neatsfoot Oil to help replenish the leather again.

I think it is some kind of shoe polish that one puts on with a applicator out of the bottle. Thanks for the tip. The holsters are in really nice shape and do have a 92fs to stuff in one. Thanks Frank
