So... my stash of WW material is dwindling.

I would like to save it for my 41mag, so I need to smelt some different alloy.

I have quite an amount of soft lead, tin, and linotype. I would like to save on the tin and lino also.

How soft can I go? 30:1? 40:1? Another mix with the lino?

I will be casting the HG 68 clone, and lubing with BAC.

Any help will be appreciated.

For .45acp, I use 50/50 soft lead/WWs. You could also probably use 2 parts soft and 1 part WW without a problem.

8 parts pure and 1 part linotype would be very close to my 50/50 mix.

It depends on the velocity. For target loads in the 750-775 FPS you should be able to get away with 2 parts soft lead with 1 part wheel weights.

Well, a while ago I made up some 1-20 allow,
I had some significant leading,
So I went 50/50 with the 1-20 and some COWW.
I have not yet loaded them.
Oh, and they are air cooled, I was to lazy to get a bucket

No need for a bucket if you're just shooting target loads.

You can use pretty soft alloy with the 45 acp. My suggestion would be to just try a small amount with your soft lead without mixing anything with it and see how they work, you might be surprised. The 45 is a great way to burn through soft lead! Im not sure what the hardness is, but I use straight range lead in my 45 acp with good results.

Hard is vastly overrated.

You don't need it.

anything over BNH 9-10 will be fine.
