I seem to be having trouble getting my buffalo classic to settle down to a good load. I've tried sr-4759 reloader 7,and trail boss, with several different boolits but what worked the last time I went to the range was a Lee boolit #457643 with 37.0 grns. of re-7. for some I could not repeat the accuracy of that load yesterday. please share with me your favorite loads for your buffalo classic.

Definitely black powder. Much more fun, amazingly accurate, and oh so right with a single shot gun.

I will try black next time. I actually shoot black quite a bit.in a miroku 45-90 that shoots like a house a fire.

Was that the Lyman 457643? If so, it's probably too small in diameter for the Classic. I shoot the Ranch Dog 350 at .459-.460 in mine. The Lee 405 hollow base (.459) also works very well.

340gr lee's cast from pure lead, some of wiljen's bp lube, two milk carton wads slightly compressed over 60gr goex 2f works good in mine.

I have had good luck with 5744 powder at trapdoor levels with Lyman 457125s. The recoil is stout, but I enjoy hitting the 300 yard gong with it!! My boolits are at .459" and group well.

When I had one of those rifles, the Lee 405HB over a compressed charge of 70gr. FFg, lubed with Emmert's, shot very well out to 500M on the silhouettes.

48 gr. Reloader7 with Hornady 350 gr. RNFP & second fav. is 47 gr. Reloader7 with Hornady 300 gr. HP Both super accurate. HP did too much damage on meat in my opinion, so I went to the FP.

40 gr 3031 w/ 420 boolit

30 gr 4198 w/ a pinch of Dacron and a 420 gr boolit

4.0 cc dipper of Pyrodex and a 350 gc boolit
